Roydetta " Detta" Sue Thompson, age 62, of Wooster, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Thursday, August 1, 2024 in Wooster after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Her loving family was by her side.
She was born on October 1, 1961 in Braxton County, West Virginia to Roy Lee and Carol Sue (Smith) Thompson and has been a Wooster resident for most of her life.
She had previously worked as a Shipping Clerk for Albright Welding Supply Co., Inc. in Wooster for many years.
Detta was a hard working single mother of two. She loved to work around the home that she built.
She enjoyed crocheting and making wreaths, but most of all spending time with her family.
No matter how she was feeling during the years of her illness, she never wavered in her faith, continued being a helper, and never gave up the fight.
She will be missed by all those that knew her.
Surviving are her son Gabriel Thompson (Chrissy); her daughter, Lauren Thompson (Shawn Heater) all of Wooster; grandchildren, Jaden, Emma, Parker and Chloe; six siblings, Ronnie Thompson of Glenville, West Virginia, Terry Smith, Ruby Griffis, Ilene Hileman, Roberta Chinn and Regina Daugherty all of Wooster, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Melinda Brown.
