Barbara A. (Bastock) Arnold of Wooster, Ohio passed over the rainbow bridge to Heaven on September 5, 2024, following a short illness.
Barbara was born in Lorain, Ohio on April 10, 1946, the only child of Stephen and Elizabeth Bastock. She graduated from Admiral King High School, and Ohio Northern University in 1967.
Barbara was the loving wife of George R. Arnold, formerly from Somerset, Ohio. They met at Ohio Northern University where they fell in love and married on August 26, 1967, during her senior year. After graduation George and Barbara moved to Rossford, Ohio where she was a stay-at-home mother, and involved in community charities and ministry. She was co-founder of the Rossford Community Service League, developing programs such as Safety Town for preschoolers and a Neighborhood Child Safety Program.
The Arnold Family moved to Wooster in 1975, where she was employed by the Wayne County Children Services Board, managing the county's adoption and foster care program and the agency's therapeutic group homes. Barbara was a Licensed Social Worker by the State of Ohio. She served as director of the Orrville Salvation Army Service Unit; as Social Worker for Canton, Ohio, Massillon, Ohio, and Ashland, Ohio Salvation Army Service units. In 2009 she became the Social Services Supervisor of the Ashland Kroc Center from its opening in 2009 and until her retirement in 2011.
Surviving Barbara are her Loving Soul Mate Husband, George of 57 years; son, G. Steve (Julie) Arnold of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; daughters Elizabeth Shade, of Toledo, Ohio, and Sarah (Scott) Miller of Brunswick Hills, Ohio. Also surviving "Ma" (Barbara) are four grandchildren, Bear (Hannah) Alexis Kinney, Sarah Kate Kinney, Ilsa Miller and Lydia Elaine Miller. And, Teresa Arnold, Daughter of the Heart of Wooster, Ohio.
Barbara was a loving individual, always willing to listen to the needs of others and always unselfishly giving of her storehouse of information, loving kindness, time, and possessions to both friends and strangers. She has survived many friends, and has likewise been survived by hundreds of loving friends throughout Ohio, and neighboring states.
We are certain our Lord and Savior has welcomed her into His Loving Arms.
Barbara, we will miss you. But we also know that we will know you again when we join you following our individual passings.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2025 followed by a graveside ceremony for family and friends.
It was Barbara's request that donations be made to the Lifecare Hospice Center of Wooster, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691 in lieu of flowers.
