Iona "Luella" Bertsch, age, 103 of Millersburg and a former longtime resident of Smithville, entered into rest on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Brookdale Wooster after a brief period of declining health. Her loving family was by her side.
She was born on April 8, 1921, in Nashville, Ohio to Isaac Luther and Madge (Cline) Clark and had been a Smithville resident for over 60 years.
Luella later married Donald R. Bertsch on October 20, 1941, in Arizona. He entered into rest on July 26, 2010, in Wooster.
She previously worked as a seamstress for the former Beulah Bechtel Dress Shop in Wooster for over 20 years before retiring in 1983.
Luella and her family enjoyed camping, traveling and playing the game UNO for many years. She was an avid gardener and mostly loved spending time with her family and especially being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Mike (Wendy) Bertsch of Millersburg, Ohio, Dave (Nancy) Bertsch of Bonita Springs, Florida and Patrick (Lisa) Bertsch of Wooster, Ohio; grandchildren, Jeff, Wayne and Julie Bertsch, Andrea (Todd) Gerber and Melissa (Adam) Ihle; and 6 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Elliott, Mable Townsend, June Morris and Dorothy Elliott; and her brothers, Bud "Virgil" Clark and Robert Clark.
It was her previous wish that there be no public services, and a private interment will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored to be assisting the family.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to: Ohio's Hospice Life Care, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691.
