Ruben Rodriguez, a beloved father, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully and gracefully on September 18, 2024, at the age of 64. He faced his final moments with the knowledge of where he was going, having accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Born in Elgin, Texas, on July 20, 1960, Ruben grew up in South Austin, where he forged lifelong connections and a reputation as a dedicated family man.
Ruben was a jack of all trades, known for his unmatched work ethic and skills. He spent many years employed by the state of Texas, excelling in construction and steelwork. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he had a passion for working on and building muscle cars with his best friend, Terry Rector. Known for his strength and determination, he built not only structures but also a legacy of love and kindness within his community. Those who knew him often remarked on his huge heart and willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Ruben cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his devoted partner, Sandra Rodriguez, and his siblings: Benjamin, Rachael, Michael, Marie, Rebecca, and Joel Rodriguez. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Esther; father, Ernest; his son, Mark Rodriguez; his grandchildren: Jordan Rodriguez, Isaac Gonzales; and his brother, David Rodriguez. His love for his children—Melissa Gonzales, Ruben Rodriguez Jr., Ashley Rodriguez - Mendez, Andrew Rodriguez and Justin Rodriguez—was evident in everything he did. He took immense pride in his 28 grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
Serving with Honor and Grace as pallbearers: Julian Rodriguez, Caiden V., Andrew Rodriguez, Ruben Rodriguez Jr., Jaydin Rodriguez, Benjamin Rodriguez, Joe Michael Gonzales, Joe Gonzales, Ruben Matthew Rodriguez II, and Xavier Mendez.
Ruben's impact on those around him will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, 10:00AM at Elgin Funeral Home in Elgin, TX, where we will gather to share memories, laughter, and the love he so generously shared.
