Ruby L. Charles, 89, affectionately known to her family and friends as "Red," entered eternal rest at Christus Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital on Sunday, April 20, 2025 at 7:30 a.m.

Ruby was born on November 27, 1935, in Roanoke, Louisiana in Jefferson Davis Parish to the late Foster Charles and Earline Livingston Charles. She resided in Roanoke until the last four years of her life, where she was a resident at Resthaven Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after hip replacement surgery. Ruby was a life-long member of St. James Baptist Church in Roanoke, LA. where she was baptized at an early age and was a member of the Youth Choir. Ruby enjoyed cooking, traveling, and visiting with relatives.

Ruby leaves to mourn, one brother, Foster R. Charles (Vina) of Lake Charles, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Foster and Earline Charles; two sisters, Elnora J. Charles Cole of Merced, CA and Priscilla Charles of Roanoke, LA; on brother, James Noah of Thibodeaux, LA; one brother-in-law, M. C. Cole of Merced, CA; one sister-in-law, Margaret Noah of Thibodeaux, LA.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26. 2025, at St. James Baptist Church, 523 Saint James Street,
Roanoke, LA 70581. Pastor Reverend Dr. Willie Maynard, Jr. will officiate. Visiting with family and friends will held in the church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Celebration Services. Burial will follow in Peterson Memorial Cemetery in Jennings, LA under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings, LA.
