Ruby S. Gordon, 81, died December 2, 2021. She was born in Louisville to the late Abe and Fannie Zimmerman Pozitzer.
Ruby graduated from University of Louisville with a Bachelor's degree in social work. She received her Master's degree from Kent School of Social Work. She was a supervisor with Shield Development Services for five years. She then went to work with the Hillebrand House and the Jefferson County Health Department. She was director for the TB, Methadone and Drug Court Programs at the health department. After retiring from social work, she volunteered with Friend for Life, Casting for Recovery and Reel Recovery. She was a 2005 Bell Award recipient and a Dosan at Actor's Theatre.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald Gordon; and her brother, Alan Pozitzer.
She is survived by her daughters, Florence Mills (Troy) and Phyllis Ghazi (David); and two grandchildren.
A graveside service for Ruby will be 10:00 am on Friday, December 10th at Cave Hill Cemetery. The procession will gather at the cemetery main entrance, 701 Baxter Avenue.

I was saddened to hear of Ruby's death in the Friend For Life newsletter. She taught me the fine art of making requests of businesses for FFL silent auctions. What a little powerhouse! We enjoyed several years together planning the silent auction and succeeding in supporting a great organization that Ruby supported in many other ways as well. I also enjoyed her enthusiasm for the Reel to Recovery events. I know she will be missed by many people who benefited from her enthusiasm. May she rest in peace and her loved ones rest in fond memories of their times together.

I am so sorry to have just heard about Ruby's passing from the Gilda's Club e-news. She and Ronnie were faithful, enthusiastic ushers at Bunbury Theatre for many years and in turn, we became supporters of Friends For Life. It was a joy to have gotten to know them. Peace be with you.

I´m sorry to hear about Ruby´s passing. She became my friend through Reel Recovery and was a wonderful spirit. A very affirming and remarkable lady. I´m grateful for knowing her.
