Ruby Ruth Schindler Holcombe, 75, of Seguin, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024. She was born December 3, 1948 in Gonzales County the daughter of Ernest and Rosie Knetiz Schindler. She was a homemaker and married Elton L. "Bud" Holcombe, Sr. on June 26, 1969 in Seguin.
Ruby always enjoyed listening to gospel music and was always smiling when she heard her favorites. She enjoyed doing puzzles and coloring on coloring books. She was always ready to play bingo and showing us what she won.
She was a person who loved getting visitors, especially her boys, they will miss her hugs, stories, and calls they had throughout their lives. Even though the memories of our mother will fade – we will always be grateful and blessed for the life she gave us.
Ruby is survived by her daughter Lilly Cantu of Smiley; sons Ronnie Holcombe of Gonzales, Lynn Holcombe of Gonzales, Elton Holcombe of Nixon and Kenny Holcombe of Gonzales; sister Shirley Kemp of San Antonio; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son Glenn Holcombe.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2024 with funeral services beginning at 10 a.m. at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow at the Monthalia Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers include Kenny Holcombe, Lynn Holcombe, Elton Holcombe, Ronnie Holcombe, Anthony Holcombe and Kris Holcombe.

Ruby was a very special lady to me. She lived in the Cost area and when I started school we all rode the same school bus. She always watched out for us younger ones on the bus and wouldn't let anyone bother us. I will always remember that beautiful smile and many years later when we met again that smile was the same. My sympathies to all of the family and to Lynn and Ronnie whom I know a special prayer goes out for those two.
