It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ruby Elaine Whitehead, who has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 23, 2024, in Parksley, VA with her family at her side. A beloved mom and mommom, Ruby was born on September 24, 1935, in Girdletree, MD, to be a light in the lives of those around her.
Ruby's legacy as a loving mother to Penny Lewis (Kenny) and Charma Quick (Jay); mommom of five grandsons, Blake Nibblett, Eric Schmidlin, Kenny Lewis Jr., Tyler Quick, and Devin Quick; and sister to, Audrey Williams and Anthony "Buster" Whitehead, will forever resonate in our hearts. Her nurturing spirit has left an indelible mark on her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Ruby's passion for music was witnessed in her time playing guitar, singing in Hymn Sings at church and with her family. Her gift of creativity through drawing, and her love for family gatherings will be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to share those moments with her.
Graveside services to honor Ruby's memory will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Union Greenbackville Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Ruby's life and sharing stories of her warmth and kindness.
Though we mourn her passing, we take solace in knowing that Ruby's legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her love and compassion. May Ruby rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she shared so freely with the world. She will forever be remembered as the best mom and mommom ever, a shining example of grace and kindness to us all.
Ruby was preceded in death by: her parents, Severn and Tennis Whitehead; and six siblings, Ethel "Sis" Powell, Marjorie "Marjie" Merritt, Thelma Tyndall, Severn Whitehead Jr., Marion Bull, and Carlton "Buddy" Whitehead.
