Willard James Beauchamp, Sr., 92, of Pocomoke City, died at his home on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
Born on November 28, 1932, he was the only son of Willie James and Gladys M. Beauchamp. Willard grew up in the Stockton/Snow Hill area and then moved to the farm at Beaver Dam near Pocomoke City when he was 13 years old. It was here that his love of farming began. Willard graduated from Pocomoke High School in 1951, being a member of the first class that had to attend school for 12 years instead of the 11 years required prior to that, a fact that caused him much displeasure, and he still talked about this misfortune 74 years later.
Following graduation, Willard and his father farmed and operated a sawmill on the Beaver Dam farm. He married Jeannette Menzel Pruitt in 1952, and they would have celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in August. They moved to his home near Stockton in 1960 on the farm where he lived until his passing.
Willard was a long-time member of Beaver Dam Presbyterian Church until it became Beaver Dam Christian Church where he attended until his death. His life revolved around faith, family, friends, and farming. He was an active farmer through autumn 2024, even driving loads of corn and soybeans to the mill at the age of 91.
He was preceded in death by his sister Hilda and his granddaughter Amy Fobear. Willard is survived by his two sons James Beauchamp and his wife Debbie and Michael Beauchamp and his wife Laura (Lolly); three grandchildren Christy Caison (Dave), Stacy Barnes (Justin), and Stephen Beauchamp (Leigh); nine great-grandchildren Jace Fobear, Caleb Johnson, Connall Caison, Caitlyn Johnson, Paxton, Addison, and Stella Barnes, Theo and Millie James Beauchamp, who is his namesake, and one great-great-grandchild Caleb Johnson II.
A funeral service officiated by the Rev. Lance Ness of Beaver Dam Christian Church will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11 AM at Lynnhaven Baptist Church, 1200 Lynn Haven Drive, Pocomoke City, MD 21851. Visitation will begin at 10 AM.
If desired, memorial contributions can be made to Beaver Dam Christian Church, P.O. Box 213, Pocomoke City, MD 21851.
