Obituary published on Legacy.com by Angel Lucy's Funeral Home - Victoria on Oct. 1, 2025.
Rudolfo "Rudy" Alvarez, Sr. 64, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 30, 2025. He was born to the late, Mateo C. & Margarita Martinez Alvarez on November 20, 1960 in Tivoli, Texas.
Rudy was a retired diesel mechanic. His work ethic set the standard for those around him. Rudy loved his job and was one of the best around, everyone and anyone who visited the shop asked for him by name. His skill of being able to diagnose a problem on any car just by listening, made him very well known. Providing for his family and making sure all their needs were met was his passion. Mary Ann, the love of his life, always all that she needed and wanted because Rudy made sure of it. His love for all his daughters, showed through with all with hugs, laughs, jokes and family time, he enjoyed so much. His only son was his shadow and has always strived to be just like Rudy and has grown up right at his Dad's side. Rudy had the flare for making family gatherings memorable and enjoyed cooking for everyone. So much so that his wife would only eat "Rudenesses" food because she knew the love and attention he put into every dish. He was an avid, Dallas Cowboy fan. Could always be found enjoying a couple cold ones with his cigarette's during a game while he cheered them on.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Ann Alvarez; daughters, Linda Alvarez, Rebecca Lopez (Johnny), Margaret Alvarez (Richard Macias) & Rudolfa Alvarez (Miguel Tzul); son, Rudolfo Alvarez (Lupita); his adoring granddaughters, Tiffany Morin-McNary (Kayla), Esmeralda Robles (Max), Christina Lopez, Patricia Lopez (Jordan Garcia), Zariah Macias, Selena Pablina & Evelyn Tzul; his proud grandsons, Johnny, Jr. (Jessimine Ybarra) & Javier Lopez, Christopher & Gabriel Macias, Steven Tzul, Rudolfo III & Grayson Alvarez; his great-grandchildren, Jaxson Parker, Ian & Sophia Robles, Jayce Balboa, Johnny III, Joel & Jiovanni Lopez, Sophia & Erin Garcia.
