Rufus Christopher Bowman, Jr. was born on July 8, 1942, in Mortons Gap, Kentucky, to the late Rev. Rufus Christopher Bowman Sr. and Gonzella Patton Bowman. He passed away on Saturday January 4, 2025, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville. Rufus attended J.W. Million School Earlington and graduated from Rosenwald High School in Madisonville, Kentucky. At the age of 15, Rufus committed his life to Christ under the guidance of Reverend Woodward Johnson at St. James Baptist Church in Barnsley, Kentucky.
Rufus dedicated twenty years of his career to Birmingham Bolt Company, Inc. in Madisonville before retiring. Even after retirement, he continued to share his skills as a carpenter for many years. Rufus had a profound love for his family and friends, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those who knew him. One of his cherished activities involved taking his dog on leisurely drives, a simple pleasure that brought him joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary L. Stumn, and a brother Paul E. Bowman.
Rufus is remembered fondly and will be deeply missed by his daughters, Sharron Bowman of Barnsley, Kelly Bowman of Madisonville, and Ashley Bowman of Hopkinsville; granddaughters Ecstacey Drake, and Shania Caldwell; 2 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jr., Shade', and Khaza. He also leaves behind brothers Dennis Bowman of Madisonville and Bobby Bowman of Barnsley; sisters Margie Bowman and Barbara Bowman of Madisonville, and Wanda Bowman of Covington, along with a host of other family and friends who will cherish the memories they shared with him.
