Russell Eugene Ball, Jr., 67, of McConnelsville died in the morning hours of Tuesday, September 3, 2025 at his home.

He was born, one of four sons on December 7, 1957, to the late Russell Sr. and Wanda (Rutter) Ball.

Russell was a tireless worker, never one to shy away from putting in the hours. He spent more that 20 years working for Southeastern Shafting as a skilled machinist, until his retirement. His greatest passion was dirt track racing, he could always be found at Midway Speedway during the weekend races. He supported his family in their racing efforts, and inspired his nephews to take up the sport of dirt track racing. He will always be remembered as an incredibly hard worker, someone who never complained and who did not have a selfish bone in his body. He lived the life he wanted and was a great inspiration to his family.

Russell leaves behind his brother, Glenn "Wayne" Ball and his nieces and nephews, Jeffery (Shannon Lafollette), Bret (Tiffani Spergin), Mya Ball, Bo Orsborn, Kendell Ball and Luke Ball.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Wanda Ball; his brothers, Randy Ball and Howard Jeff Ball; his nephew, Cory Ball, his cousins, Jeffy Wickham and Shawn Rutter; his uncle Dean Rutter, as well as his aunts, Evelyn Rutter and Wilma Rutter.

Friends are welcome to pay their respects from 10-2:00 PM, Friday, September 12, 2025 at Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services will start at 2:00 PM with Kyle Eveland as celebrant. Russell will then be laid to rest in Zion Cemetery with the rest of the Ball family.
