He was married to Dawn E (Matthews) Delaney with whom he would have celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on August 30, 2025.
Born in Boston, MA he was the beloved son of William Delaney and Mary (Divisano) Delaney.
He graduated from Revere High School with the Class of 1977.
He retired in 2021 from FairPoint Communications of Nashua, NH where he was a member of the IBEW 2320.
He was a communicant of the Parish of the Resurrection in Nashua, NH.
Russell an avid outdoors man was a member of the Horse Pond Fish and Game Club of Nashua, NH where he served on the board of directors and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at Pine Grove Lodge in Pleasant Ridge Maine. Russell was also a dedicated Boston Bruins fan. But his most joy came from spending time with his loving wife, their seven children who he had coached all of his sons through their youth sports teams and their ten grandchildren with number eleven on the way.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons Douglas and his wife Katie Delaney of Amherst, NH, Troy Delaney of Merrimack, NH, John Delaney and his wife Corinna of Mason, NH, Curtt Delaney of Merrimack, NH, Brett and his wife Taylor Delaney of Nashua, NH, Robert and his wife Stephanie Seidl of Pepperell, MA Evan Lotti of Nashua, NH, his five brothers Robert Delaney of Revere, MA, Bill Delaney of Cape Cod, Mark and his wife Jackie Delaney of Reading, MA, Scott Delaney of Revere, MA, Rick Delaney of Woburn, MA, his sister Lisa Delaney, Winthrop, MA, and his ten soon to be eleven grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sister Maureen Delaney.
