Russell Dean Freeman was a beloved husband, father, uncle, son and friend. He passed away on October 2, 2025, just a few weeks prior to his 74th birthday as well as 50th wedding anniversary.

Russ is survived by his wife Sandra Freeman (Fredricksen) , sons Bradley Freeman and Brian Freeman, grandchildren Ashley, Mason,Madison and Austin, brother Mike (Jo) and sister Wanda Shoenwolf, sister in law Pat Freeman and Patricia (Bill) Bauer and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James and Glennis Freeman (McCallister), brother Rondal Freeman, brother in law Dennis Shoenwolf, and God daughter Laura Shoenwolf.

Russell Dean Freeman was born on October 24, 1951 in Norwood, MO. He worked at both Walker Processing and Caterpillar, prior to retiring from Equipto Electronics in 2019 after 30 years. He coached the St. Paul's youth and traveling bowling leagues in Aurora for many happy years. He not only loved bowling and coaching, but received many awards for his achievements, including an induction into the Hall of Fame Meritarious Service in 2018 by Greater Aurora USBC Bowling Association and Illinois State USBC. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed being in his garden and taking care of his lawn. Russ also loved music from the 50s and 60s and was incredibly knowledgeable about songs, lyrics and artists from that era.

Russell adored his grandchildren and one of his great joys was attending the many sports activities that they were involved in. Those who knew Russ, knew of his love of animals. He had many dogs and cats throughout the years, even sporting "Cat Dad" shirts at times. He will be sorely missed by Penny, Toby and Mia. Russ loved to tell stories and was always making someone smile. He touched the lives of countless people with both his kindness and humor and will be incredibly missed by those who loved him.

A gathering to honor and celebrate Russ will be held at Dunn Family Funeral Home With Crematory, 1801 S. Douglas Rd., Oswego, IL 60543-0665, on Wednesday October 8, 2025 from 3pm to 7pm. We invite family and friends to join us in remembering and celebrating his life.
