Russell William Gueffroy, a longtime resident of Fraser, died peacefully in Laurel of Mt. Pleasant Nursing Care Center in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan at the age of 69 years.
Russell was born in Mt. Clemens on October 22, 1936, a son of the late William and Gladys (Holtz) Gueffroy. He was a 1954 graduate of Fraser High School where he excelled in track, baseball and basketball. He then attended Valparaiso University. Russell was a former long time member of the Fraser Lions Club, the Caseville Eagles and St.John Lutheran Church of Fraser. He enjoyed golf and bowling. Russell was retired from General Motors Corporation where he had worked as a design engineer for many years. In his later years he owned & operated Guff’s Rainbow Motel in Caseville, Michigan. He will be remembered for his since of humor and be deeply missed by many he has touched in his lifetime.
Russell is survived by his loving children, Steven (Judy), James, Glenn (Faith) and Chris (Lisa) Gueffroy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Grant, Stephanie, Christian and Aiden.
Visitation will be held at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Rd., Fraser, Friday, July 28, 2006, from 10am till time of funeral services at 1pm. Burial will follow in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Fraser Lions would be appreciated.
