Russell Curtis Kuenstler "Russ"
Russ lost his courageous battle with multiple medical conditions on Friday May 31, 2024, at the age of 76. He left behind his beloved wife of 45 wonderful years, Sandra (Sandy) (nee Venne) Kuenstler. He was the loving father of Ron Russell of Waukesha, WI, Rachel (Paul Eisert) of
Eagle, WI. Proud Grandpa of Aaron Russell (Beekah), Nate Russell, Dominick Eisert, Anthony Eisert and Riley Eisert. Dear brother of the late Ralph P. Kuenstler Jr, and the late Barbara Culver. Russ will also be remembered by his niece Gail Kuenstler, nephew David Kuenstler, other relatives and friends.
Russ was a lifelong resident of New Berlin. He attended Brookfield Central High School but enlisted in the Vietnam Draft before graduation. He was a proud member of the US Army where he served as a Combat Engineer in Vietnam. After Russ returned home, he owned a Phillips 66 Gas Station in New Berlin. Russ also operated Mohr's Automotive in New Berlin with his brother for many years. While running the business he was also a City of New Berlin Alderman serving New Berlin's 7th District. Russ played a huge role in the development of the New Berlin Soap Box Derby and was a chairman for many years. After Russ and his brother closed Mohr's Automotive, he then worked for the City of New Berlin Water Utility, until he retired. Russ was also a member of the Hoeppner-Horn Bros VFW Post 5716 for many years.
He was an avid classic car collector, he and his wife Sandy would love summertime when they could take their cars out to car shows. He even bought a motorhome and trailer to take his cars on trips to other states to show off his pride processions. He definitely loved strange and unique cars. Even during his illness, he decided to purchase a 1957 King Midget, unfortunately he never made it home to actually sit in it.
Besides his cars, he loved to brag about any of his grandsons. They definitely brought a smile to his face when he would talk about them.
At the end of the day, he loved to relax with a good cold Miller Genuine Draft at his favorite supper club the Blue Heron in Big Bend.
Russ was a kind, caring and generous man who would do anything for his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend.
