Obituary published on Legacy.com by Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services - Edgerton on Oct. 1, 2025.
Russell William Leisure passed unexpectedly but peacefully in the late hours of February 13th, 2025. He was born on February 12, 1943 to Genevieve (Nowaker) and Clifford Leisure in Florida, and grew up in Akron, Ohio with his younger sister Paulette. Russ joined the Air Force in 1963 and ultimately achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. His 27 years of service included being in Military Intelligence. He was stationed in Thailand during Vietnam, Alaska, Texas, and at the Pentagon for 4 years. He later went into hospital administration, serving again in Alaska, S. Carolina, and Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. He was honorably discharged in 1990.
Russ met and married his 1st wife Sherry during his service in Texas where they started their family, eventually having 3 children. They moved to Wisconsin after he retired, and he began working at Oscar Mayer where he worked for over 20 years. Sadly in 1996 Sherry passed away after a long battle with ALS. Russ met Lori several years later when they began working together in the same area at Oscar's. They married on a beautiful day on the 29th of September 2001. Russ was a quiet, kind, gentle, loving, and very generous man. He enjoyed reading the daily paper, spending time with his best buddy Harry (his small dog with a big dog's heart as he always said), gardening and working in the yard with Lori, attending Sunday morning services and visiting during coffee hour at Fulton Church, and especially being with family and friends. He was an avid NASCAR and Packers fan, he also enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, country music, and was a "bit" of a Star Trek fan. Russ was always there to support Lori, his 3 children and Lori's 3 children, whom he considered and loved as his own. He will always be remembered for being a loving and caring husband, father and stepdad, and a proud grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Lori; his sister Paulette (Bob) Smith; his three children Shawn, Chris, and Lynn; his three stepchildren Brianna (Tyler Fero) Scarpelli, Nicholas (Stephanie Lundsford) Scarpelli, and Joseph Scarpelli III. His 10 grandchildren Tiffany, Brittany, Sabrina, Kirsten, Megan, Liam, Logan, Skye, Sommer, and Ace; three great-grandchildren Logan, Alaina, and Tessa; and many other family members and friends. He is loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Genevieve; his 1st wife Sherry; great-granddaughter Briella; grandson Ryan; and beloved friend, Harry.
A "Celebration of Life" Service will be held Friday, February 21st at 11am at Fulton Church in
Edgerton, Wisconsin, with a visitation held at 10am until time of service at the church. There will be military honors to follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to "Tunnels to Towers Foundation", supporting wounded veteran's and first responder's charity, in Russ's name.
