Russell Graham Moffitt, fondly known as Rusty, entered this world on December 3, 1995, in
Greenville, NC, and left us far too soon on March 5, 2026, at the age of 30 in Wilmington, NC. In his brief yet impactful life, Rusty touched the hearts of everyone who knew him with his infectious smile, playful spirit, and a heart full of kindness.
Rusty was an individual who embraced life with unyielding enthusiasm. He found joy in riding the waves as an avid surfer and adventuring through countless virtual worlds as a dedicated gamer. His work behind the bar as a bartender and server was much more than a job; it was another stage where he connected with people, shared stories, and made lifelong friendships.
Known for his lighthearted nature, Rusty's laughter could fill a room, and his quirky habit of "flipping off" the camera in photos will forever remind us of the humor he brought into our lives. He had a unique gift for listening to others and uplifting those around him, always ready with an encouraging word or a silly joke to brighten someone's day.
He leaves behind a loving family, including mother Paula S Moffitt and father Edward R Moffitt his cherished grandparents, Bobby and Nancy Stainback of
Raleigh, NC; his devoted sister, Sydney Moffitt, and her husband, Rocky Canfield, of
Myrtle Beach, SC; his identical twin brother, Austin Moffitt of Wilmington, NC; and his adored nephews, Avery Hamill, aged 12, and Colton Canfield, aged 6. Rusty is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and an innumerable circle of friends who will miss him dearly.
In honor of Rusty's vibrant spirit and the love he spread, his family would like to advocate for Mental Health Awareness for males, encouraging open conversations and support for those in need. Rusty's legacy of joy, kindness, and laughter will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Though we mourn his loss, we celebrate the unforgettable impact Rusty had on our lives and carry forward his legacy with love and compassion.
