Funeral services for Mr. Russell Benjamin Stanton will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 24, 2023, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Gary Green, William Huddleston, and Paul Yost officiating. Interment will follow in Big Island Baptist Church Cemetery, Deville, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Stanton, 79, of Deville, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Russell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served in the Vietnam War, and a retired Estimator for Clark Dunbar. In his early years he made his career as a professional musician, playing in numerous states across the country, which was his true passion. He also enjoyed fishing and loved building and flying radio control planes. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Eldred and Willye Evelyn Stanton.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty years, Sheila Ann Smith Stanton of Deville; one son, John Stanton of Deville; two daughters, Julie Wray, and husband James, of Pineville, and Stephanie VanGossen, and husband Jimmy, of Pitkin; two sisters, Shirley Jones of Wichita, Kansas, and Sharon Johnson of Bothell, Washington; and five grandchildren, Richard Lofton (Raven), Ava Wray (Kayla), Cameron VanGossen, Chandler VanGossen, and Jayden VanGossen.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Jimmy VanGossen, James Wray, Stephen Smith, Cameron VanGossen, Chandler VanGossen, and Jayden VanGossen.
