Russell G. Yergey III

Poughkeepsie, NY – Russell G. Yergey III passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of generosity, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Russell was predeceased by his beloved mother, Patricia Ann Silva-Yergey; his former wife, Gina Yergey; and his brother-in-law, Chris Charland. He is survived by his father, Russell G. Yergey Jr.; his cherished son, Russell G. Yergey IV and his partner Emma Brumley; and his grandson, Silas C. Yergey, who brought immense joy to his life. He also leaves behind his great-nephew, Colton Odell, and his loving sisters: Carolyn Charland, Patricia Vegeto (Pete Klatt), and Danielle Yergey.

He will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews and their partners: Stephen Hapeman, Cory Vegeto (Gina Vegeto), C.J. Charland (Michaela Charland), Ryan Schwinger, Cassandra Vegeto (Kevin Odell), and Amber Charland (Ryan Mullen). Russell also held close bonds with his cousins Darlene Kaahaina, Cheryl Hoki, Norman "Junior" Maldonado, Melissa Palentine (John Palentine), and Bryan Longfeild, as well as his aunts Phillis Maldonado, Sharlene Calabro, and Mary Longfeild.

A man of immense heart, Russell was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need-even if it meant going without himself. He was happiest in the great outdoors, whether biking, boating, fishing, playing sports with the kids, or simply going for a walk or run. One of his greatest joys, however, was getting everyone's dogs way too riled up-something he did with a mischievous grin and a heart full of love.

Russell was passionate about building and fixing houses. He had a gift for seeing the potential in a pile of materials and turning it into a home-work he approached with pride and craftsmanship. His favorite place was always the lake across from his father's house, but if he couldn't be there, he was likely cruising around town with family-most of whom share his love of motorcycles-or out on one of his boats, soaking up life.

Above all, Russell loved simply living. He fought fiercely to stay with the people he loved for as long as he could, and his presence, warmth, and humor will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 10th at 12 Davis Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603, for family and close friends.
