Ruth A. Alden
April 12, 1946 – July 12, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth A. Alden, age 79, of Frankford, DE, at Beebe Healthcare on July 12, 2025.
Ruth was born in Philadelphia, PA, on April 12, 1946, to George and Ida Ford. Ruth followed her calling to become a nurse, attending nursing school at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, where she spent nearly forty years dedicated to caring for others. Afterward, Ruth relocated to Delaware to be closer to the beach, where she continued her work at Beebe Healthcare before retiring.
In retirement, Ruth enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including thrifting, reading, visiting the beach, and volunteering her time. She was an avid Disney lover and later became enchanted by the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, George and Ida Ford, and her sister, Ida Donis. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer; her best friend, Joan Weed; and her bonus daughters, Angelique Hartman (and her husband, Peter Hartman) and Andria Carey (and her husband, Patrick Carey). Ruth is also survived by her grandchildren, PJ and AJ Hartman, Abigayle, Patrick, and Jordyn Carey; her nieces and nephews, Peter Donis (and his wife, Heather), Jean Donis (and her partner, Brian), Molly Stubbs (and her husband, Jesse Stubbs), David Vollmer (and his wife, Patricia), Rob Vollmer (and his daughter, Gina), Gay and Ross Beiler, and Lois and Russ Vollmer.
A private memorial and crab feast will be held at a later date to honor Ruth's memory.
