Ruth "Claudette" Brothers, 82, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on November 13, 2025, at her daughter's home in
Andalusia, Alabama.
A Funeral service will be held on November 22, 2025, at 2pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Nashville, Tennessee with Pastor Michael Donaldson of Denton's Church, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Claudette was born on May 18, 1943, in Nashville, Tennessee, to her loving parents, Minnie Ruth Jackson and Paul Duncan Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Brothers; her parents, Minnie Ruth and Paul Duncan Jackson; her daughter Melody Ruth Segars; her brother-in-law William Boyd Brothers, brother-in-law Carl Edward Brothers, sister-in-law Wilma Jean Brothers, brother-in-law Charles Bryson; and her nephew, Jerry Lee Brothers.
She is survived by her daughters Valerie Evonne Brothers, Fairy June Keeton, Kandie Jean Johnston (Phillip), and Vickie May Demers (Scott); her grandchildren Ashley Ruth Hicks (Jason), Jason Isaiah Segars (Melody), Symphony Paulette Keeton (Madison), Nikolas Albert Brothers (Chelsea), Sydney Victoria Demers, Caroline Grace Demers, and Emily Ruth Brothers; her great-granddaughter Josie Rae Hicks; her sister-in-law Carolyn Ann Bryson, sister-in-law Shelia Brothers and other extended family and friends.
After graduating from Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Alabama, in 1985, Claudette worked for ten years as a compassionate and dedicated nurse at Huntsville Hospital, caring for her patients with warmth, empathy, and grace.
Before her nursing career, Claudette devoted herself fully to her family as a stay-at-home mother, raising her five daughters with love, patience, and faith. She was also a National Guild Piano Teacher who shared her musical gifts as a pianist and organist in numerous Pentecostal churches across North Alabama. In addition to her love for music, she served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, nurturing the spiritual growth of countless children.
Claudette shared her husband's strong faith and adventurous spirit, traveling alongside him on many of his mission trips. She journeyed with him to several of his destinations and also traveled to Russia with her daughter, Vickie on a separate mission trip-carrying her faith and love for others wherever she went.
Claudette will be remembered for her steadfast faith, gentle heart, and devotion to family. She lived her life with grace and compassion, always reflecting the same values she and Bobby shared.
