Ruth Allene Carlson

Ruth A. Carlson passed away peacefully at age 84 in the arms of her children on Saturday, July 23, 2022.
Ruth was born July 6, 1938 in Carrollton, OH to Allen and Ruth (Patton) Adams Jr.
Devoted wife of Ernest H Carlson for 40 years until his passing in 2010, Ruth was a teacher, councilwoman, librarian, homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a lifelong pianist from age 6 and played with choirs and chorales from her youth through adulthood. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed hiking, crafting and fancy sewing.
Ruth completed her Bachelor's of Education degree and received teaching certification from Kent State in 1960. She served as Business Labor Government librarian at Akron Public Library from 1963 – 1967 and completed her MLS Master's degree in Library Science at KSU in 1966. Ruth held the position of Supervisor of Films Selection at KSU from 1967 – 1970. In addition to her individual pursuits, Ruth shared travels to the Middle East, Far East, Europe USA and Canada with her husband in his role as geologist at KSU.
Ruth was an active Brady Lake Village Council member from 1996 to 2014 as well as holding various posts and church organist as member of Lake Brady United Methodist Church since 1975.
Ruth is joined in eternal life by her husband Ernest H Carlson, mother Ruth M Patton Adams and brother John A. Adams. She is survived by her daughter, Rosanna Marie Carlson (husband Phillip Peachock); son, Christopher A. Carlson; nephews, Richard J Adams and Lee Adams, grandchildren, Cameron, Dylan and Alexis Peachock and Lilith Carlson.
Calling hours will be observed Sunday, July 31 from 4-6 PM at Bissler and Sons, 628 W Main St. in Kent. Funeral service to be held Monday, August 1 at 10:00 AM at Bissler & Sons with internment following at North Lawn Cemetery in North Canton.
