Sara Ruth Cox Edwards, 85, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023, at her home.
Born in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Clifton Clayton "C.C." and Lucille Graham Cox. Ruth loved gardening and enjoyed working in her yard. She was a faithful member of Pope Drive Baptist Church and the Mary Evelyn King Sunday school class. She was always available to lend a helping hand or raise up a prayer for her family, friends, and neighbors.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Carl T. Edwards of the home; daughter, Gail Mercer (Joe); daughter-in-law, Vickie Edwards; granddaughter, Candice Edwards Bradshaw (Drew); great-grandchildren, Emerie and Wells Bradshaw, all of Anderson; siblings, Elizabeth Woolbright of Seneca, Marshall Earl Cox of Greenville, Lorene Gaines of Anderson, Willie Mae Stephens of Six Mile, and Don Richard Cox of Westminster.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Edwards; brothers, Raymond Dewey Cox, Gerald Steven Cox, Cecil Ray Cox, and a sister, Betty Sue Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, October 1, at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Bill Rigsby. Entombment will follow at Roberts Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Interim Hospice and her wonderful caregivers, Missy, Sandy B., Sandy C., Susan, Barbara, Ginger, and Angel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 East Calhoun Street, Anderson, SC 29621, or Anderson Emergency Kitchen at andersonemergencykitchen.org.
