Ruth E. Garrett, 81, of Haverhill, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Lawrence General Hospital.
She was born in Nashua, NH on July 21, 1941, daughter of the late Harold G. and Anne J. (Cavanagh) Clark.
Ruth graduated from Saugus High School with the Class of 1960. She would later graduate from the first LPN class from Essex Agricultural & Technical Institute in 1963. She would go on to work as an LPN in the ICU/CCU and ER at the old Hale Hospital for 10 years until 1978.
Despite her inability to continue her work on the units, she never stopped being of service to her family and friends until the end.
Ruth is predeceased by her loving husband George H. Garrett who passed away on September 6, 2017, her son Charles J. Garrett, daughter Sheryl-Ann Henderson, sisters Margaret A. Emond and Naomi L. Trioli, and grandchildren Amber Lee Henderson and Charlotte C. Minor.
She is survived by her children, Lynda E. Garrett and Judith E. Garrett, both of Haverhill, and her daughter Dorothy C. Garrett of Bay Spring, MS. Her sisters Norma A. Martin, Sunny H. Sullivan, and Helen C. Connelly. She was the loving grandmother to ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren and is also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her calling hours on Wednesday, July 5th from 6-8 PM at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main Street, Bradford. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 6, at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society and Merrimack Valley Hospice.
