Ruth Marie Wawryson Goehring, 91, resident of St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, Laconia, NH died peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025. She was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on February 10, 1934, the daughter of Edward and Lillian Wawryson.
She was predeceased in 2012 by her husband, Robert G. Goehring, whom she married on August 28, 1954. Throughout her married life, Ruth dedicated herself to supporting her husband and raising their two daughters – Linda L. Adey (Kenneth D.) of
Nashua, NH and Kathleen R. Raymer (Paul H.) of Falmouth, MA. She moved with him to Sudbury and then Acton, Massachusetts where she volunteered as a kindergarten teacher's aide and a Brownie, Girl Scout, and Cadette leader and was active in her church. She embarked on a secretarial path that she had paused while raising her girls, starting at Haartz Auto Fabric, and enjoying working at the Emerson Hospital Pharmacy in Concord, MA. When the family moved to
Nashua, NH she supported Bob as he established his own successful business, Decorators Service Company, in 1976. Ruth helped to support the family by working in a law office, at Gardoc, Inc. (ah, the stickers) and for the Digital Equipment Corporation. They finally settled in Milford, New Hampshire in 1988 where they resided until Bob's death in 2012.
In their 58 years of loving marriage, Ruth enjoyed the interaction with Bob's brothers and their wives almost as much as she enjoyed the music of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennet. She engaged with the family at the annual Goehring Family picnics. She enjoyed spending time with her younger (only) sister Ellen Hedlund (Robert) of Cocoa, FL and thought of her as one of her daughters. She was extraordinarily proud of her children and shared in the good times and in the sad times of their marriages and their families. Ruth adored her six grandchildren, Heather Adey-Merrithew (Rebecca), Adam Raymer (Heather), Elizabeth Raymer, Abigail Lambert (Jason), Matthew Adey and Christopher Adey-Fiske (Courtni) and their families of sixteen great grandchildren. She earned affectionate nicknames such as 'Sweetie Pie,' 'Whoopie Pie,' and 'GeeGee'.
Ruth is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends across the country who have loving memories of her kind soul.
Ruth and Bob travelled to Europe in 1985, and in 2004 they enjoyed a 50th Anniversary trip to Alaska.
