Ruth “Evelyn” Hasty
On September 30, 2025, we lost the matriarch of our family R. Evelyn Hasty (known to many as Grandma Evelyn), at the age of 86. She passed away in Ventura, CA from pulmonary edema with dementia.
She was born on July 1,1939 in McAlester, OK to Ralph and Ida Lester. As a young girl her family moved from Oklahoma to California and settled in Santa Paula where she grew up on the Limoneira Ranch. She was also a graduate of Santa Paula High School.
She married Robert “Bob” Hasty in 1957. In 1964 they started Bob’s Radiator Shop. Evelyn did all the bookkeeping for the business until she was no longer able. After Bob’s death she needed to keep busy, she went to work part-time for Wicks Furniture as well as the Fillmore Chamber of Commerce. She loved bowling and participated in various bowling leagues at Santa Paula and Buena Lanes. Some of her fondest memories were working with all the kids that participated in the Youth Bowling League Association. She was a devoted Christian and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Fillmore.
Her family was her pride and joy. She loved to travel to see any of them, and if by chance she wasn’t invited, she would invite herself. She tried not to miss one significant moment in any of their lives. Anything important to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren was important to her.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Robbie & Ronnie Tieman of Mohave Valley, AZ and Lynn & Craig Cole of Fillmore, CA. Grandchildren, Brittney (Tieman) & David Rowley of Fletcher, NC, Ronnie Tieman Jr., Mohave Valley, AZ, Curtis & Hillary Cole, Lone Grove, OK and Corey & Breanna Cole, Fillmore, CA. Great-Grandchildren, Olivia & Henry Rowley, Case, Adley & Mayli Cole and Callie & Hallie Cole. Sister-In-Laws, Joyce Hasty, Mohave Valley, AZ, & Brenda Hasty, Fillmore, CA. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Robert “Bob” Hasty and their son Brian Hasty. Parents Ralph and Ida Lester. Sister/Brother-In-Law, Louise (Lester)/Tom Sheppard, Jeanie Wheat and brother Ron Lester. Brother-In-Law, Roy Hasty and Brother-In-Law/Sister-In-Law Ted and Jan Hasty.
