Ruth Kesinger

Ruth Ina Kesinger, 92, passed away on October 12, 2024 at IU Health in Muncie, Indiana. She was born in Marion on February 29, 1932, daughter of Rolland M and Lola M (Whybrew) Johnson. Ruth Ina was a 1950 graduate of Gaston High School. She graduated with Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Ball State University in Home Economics. She married Robert M. Kesinger on December 25, 1980. Ruth Ina was a member of Harmony Primitive Baptist Church, Matthews, Indiana.

Ruth Ina enjoyed many work experiences in her life: Exchange student to Belgium with the International Farm Youth Program, teaching middle school and high school at Geneva and Woodburn Schools, Consumer Extension Agent for Purdue on Fort Wayne area TV and Radio stations, administrator at San Diego Community College, sold real estate in Prescott, Arizona, and author of Rare Bits for Ruth.

Survivors include: nephew Lewis "Ed" Johnson (Julie), nieces Shirley Thacker, and Linda Johnson. Also surviving, multiple generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert M. Kesinger, brother John Edward Johnson, sister-in-law Carol Brown Johnson, and great niece Susan Ledbetter.

Visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Harmony Primitive Baptist Church, on Wheeling Pike, just west of Matthews, Indiana. The funeral service will follow immediately after visitation at the church. Elder Glen Funk will be officiating. Interment will be at Matthews Cemetery. Arrangements for Ruth Ina have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
