Ruth Marie Kohser

Ruth Marie (Deacon) Kohser, 95, of Waverly, Ohio went to be with her lord and savior Jesus Christ, at 1:37 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2025, at Hopewell Grove Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Chillicothe, Ohio.
Ruth was born May 31, 1930, in Waverly, Ohio, the daughter of the late Rolla Cline Deacon and Pearl Elizabeth (Fisher) Deacon. On April 24, 1971, she was united in marriage to Glenn Kohser who preceded her in death January 24, 2001.
She is survived by three children, Kenneth Ray (Susan) Smith, Deborah Kaye (Eric) Mott, and Allen Dale (Iona) Smith; six grandchildren; Jenna (Kyle) Penwell, Heather (John) Austin, Denny (Kimberly) Smith, Debbie (Darren) Goodbar, Andy (Amy) Smith, Erin (Paul) Perry; ten great-grandchildren, Emmalye, Kassidy, Anna, Erin, Lee, Quentin, Lilia, Mavrick, Kenley, and Araya; four great-great grandchildren, Rory, Brylie, Atticus, and Desmond; her daughter-in-law, Louise Smith; and three sisters, Marlene Naumann, Geneva Deacon, and Lorna Katherine Steltzman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Berlin R. Smith (father of her children); her second husband, Glenn Kohser; a son, Dennis Darrell Smith; four brothers, Charles Deacon, Richard E. Deacon, Gordon Ollie Deacon, and Glenn Deacon; and two sisters, Mildred Walter, and Velma Gillum.
As well as being a wonderful mother and homemaker, Ruth had a spirit of adventure and service to others. For many years while raising her children she was a 4-H advisor and served on the 4-H Advisory Council. She would work in numerous occupations to learn and to experience new things. She obtained a license in radio broadcasting, and DJ'd at WPKO in Waverly, was a licensed insurance agent involved in managing a debit insurance premium route, and at one time sold Mary Kay products. She loved fishing, painting, crafting, sewing, quilting, yard sales, and auctions. She regularly went to Waverly Senior Center to be with her many wonderful friends, to take various classes, and to play bingo.
A private family service will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, Ohio with Pastor Scott Judge officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Ohio.
