Ruth Isabelle Loflin
Ruth Isabelle Loflin was fiercely loved by her husband, siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She passed away peacefully on March 1st, 2025 surrounded by her family. Isabelle (often lovingly called Izzy or Nana) was born January 16, 1942 to Ruth and Clyde Kirkman. She was the very first baby to ever be put in an incubator (which was designed by her doctor and her father). She grew up alongside her siblings: Betsy (Boyd Black), Wayne Kirkman (Teresa), and Carolyn (Gene Martin).
She married Roy Loflin on July 14, 1963. They were married for 61 years until her passing. Together they had two children, Michael Todd Loflin (Lisa) and Angela Ruth Loflin Fuller (Tom Fuller). They had 6 grandchildren: Savannah Stevenson (Bradley Stevenson), Zoe Thornton (James Thornton), Ian Fuller, Ethan Fuller, Hayden Loflin and Carly Ruth Loflin. They also had four great grandchildren: Aiden Stevenson, Lilyana Stevenson, Ava Ruth Stevenson and Charlotte Thornton.
Isabelle was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship in Burlington. Izzy loved her family and friends and was a fierce supporter of Alamance Christian School, where she worked for many years and where her children and several grandchildren attended. She could often be found in her rocking chair, Dr. Pepper in hand cheering on her Tar Heel basketball team or watching Judge Judy. When ball games weren't on, her favorite place to be was in the kitchen whipping up cakes, chocolate eclair and meals for her family. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and especially all the neighborhood cats which she named, fed and cared for greatly.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in
Graham, NC with the family receiving friends from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. The burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.
