Mrs. Ruth Marie (Bacon) Mehrhoff, age 77, of Tebbetts, Missouri passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
Ruth was born on January 17, 1947, in Jefferson City, MO, a daughter of George Miller and Phylis Ruth (Farley) Bacon. She was married November 5, 1982, to Philip Frank Mehrhoff as they combined her daughter and his two daughters into one family.
Ruth attended Jefferson City Public Schools. She continued her education at Lincoln University, Drury College in Springfield, MO and then completed her bachelor's degree at University of Illinois in Springfield, IL. She furthered her education at the University of Illinois to receive her masters in education and psychology.
Ruth devoted her life to the service of others in her career choices. She began her work as an Infant Development Specialist with the United Cerebral Palsy Association of New York on Long Island. She moved back to Missouri and became the Director of Cole County Association for Intellectually Disabled Citizens which included Director of Peter Pan School for children with disabilities, Special Olympics, Camp Wonderland, Camp Sunshine, and Friday night recreation programs for young adults with disabilities. Ruth also worked as the Assistant Director of Central Missouri Head Start program which served eight counties. She later worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections as an academic teacher as she helped inmates prepare and achieve their GEDs. Ruth retired in 2012.
Ruth was a member of the Red Hat Society and participated in three local groups. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary of Jefferson City, Post #5. She participated in the Relay for Life in several Missouri communities. She enjoyed traveling and had visited most of the United States. She was an avid card player and she enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking, and spending time in the local casinos with friends and family. Most of all, Ruth loved and cherished every moment that she spent with her family.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Philip; daughter, Ami Stephens and son-in-law, David of Jefferson City, MO, daughter, Jodi Killon (Bill Fowler) and daughter, Stacey Mehrhoff (Brian Albred) all of White Hall, Illinois. Grandchildren: Heather Rademan (Mark), Jacob Killion, Lucus Killion, Kendaelyn Landreth, Kolton Landreth and Jordan Weber. Great-grandchildren: Louise Rademan and Atlas Northrop. Sister: Rosie Lairmore, Wanda Nave (John) and Sherry Rackers (Mike) and brother: George Miller Bacon Jr. (Mary).
She was preceded in death by: her parents, sister, Brenda Thomas (Roger); brother, Ed Bacon and brother-in-law, Herschell Lairmore.
Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024 at HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors in Jefferson City, Missouri services following at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eldon.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Maintenance fund.
