Ruth Miksch

Ruth E. Blinn Miksch was born on August 22, 1927, and passed from this life on February 3, 2026. In between those dates she had 98 years of an amazing life.

Her parents were Charles F. Blinn and Bertha O. (Wutrich) Blinn. She had four older brothers, Paul, Ray, Chet, and Don. They all preceded her in death. Ruth's mother died when she was only 8 years old, and she always said how lucky she was to have had so many family and friends who took such good care of her. She appreciated them all, especially her grandmother Carrie Lange.

Ruth was a child of the Great Depression and World War II. Her experiences made her a hardworking, confident, humble wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who never complained about any of her many difficulties.

She started working at her dad's pool hall in Barberton at age 8 and had many jobs over the years. She dropped out of high school during the war because the grocery store she worked at didn't have enough help and often called her out of school. She met many lifelong friends through her work at Wayside Market in Seville. She worked there for over 40 years, still doing the monthly balance sheet well into her 70s.

A few of her activities during her long life were school cafeteria worker, President of the PTA, Girl Scout troop leader, member of Garden Club and the Red Cross. She was an extreme animal lover and was always very proud to be from Barberton.

Ruth was determined (some might say stubborn!). She always had to try anything advertised as "new and improved." She was totally centered on others. She enjoyed good health and was engaged in life until her final days, although she often expressed regret that none of her family or close friends were still alive to keep her company.

She married Robert P. Miksch in 1946. They enjoyed a happy married life until 1981 when he passed away. Ruth is survived by a very loving family, including daughters Marcia Kroft and Diane Miksch, and sons David (Debbie) Miksch and Ken (Barb Dodrill) Miksch, and her grandchildren: Heather Miksch, Jessica Kroft (Andrew Jackson), Alex (Myranda) Kroft, Kyle Miksch (Nikki McQuain), Bobby Dodrill (Laura Samples), and great-grandson Emmett Kroft.

Ruth was a Lifebanc organ donor and her family encourages others to follow her example.

She will be missed so much. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
