Ruth Ann Miller

Ruth Ann Plitt Miller of Dover, Delaware, passed away Monday, February 23rd, 2026, She was 84.

She was born November 15th, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Charles Henry Plitt and Ruth Guston Plitt.

Ruth Ann attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Maryland and continued her education at Wesley College in Dover, the University of Delaware, and Delaware State University. She had a vibrant spirit and a love for life that showed in everything she did, especially in her fondness for bright, colorful clothing. She believed deeply in helping others and was a proud organ donor, giving the gift of life even beyond her years. She retired as a dedicated state employee after 20 years of service as a secretary for the State of Delaware. In her earlier years, she also enjoyed giving food demonstrations in local grocery stores, sharing her love of cooking and connecting with her community.

She volunteered at many organizations including, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Delaware Division of the Blind, Dover Pony League, Veterans' Hospital, Cub Scout Troop (in Dover). Dover High School Soccer Boosters Club and South Dover PTA. She was also a member of many organizations, including, Christ Memorial Baptist Church (Charter member), Leader, R & R Singles Club, Council on alternative careers, Dover Central Middle School PTA, Nature Conservancy, Society of Commercial Partners, Christian Singles, Christ Memorial Bible School.

Those who knew her often remember the saying she lived by: "It's not the mountains ahead that get you; it's the pebble in your shoe." Ruth Ann had a joyful heart and a love for music; "If there is music in heaven, she will be dancing."

In her memory, she made a simple but meaningful request: call a friend or an elderly family member today and arrange time to spend with them.

She is survived by her son, Adrian Miller and his wife, Linda, of Myrtle Beach, SC; her granddaughter, Lauren Kowalick and husband Nicholas of Dover, DE; grandson, Corey McCulley of DE, and Sean McCulley of Altamonte Springs, FL; and two great grandsons, Cameron and Connor of Dover, DE.

A service of thanksgiving and a celebration of life will be held 6:00pm, Friday, February 27th, 2026, at Christ Memorial Baptist Church, 1160 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware.
