Ruth Lee Blackburn Reid, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Trellis Supportive Care in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born to the late William Rowan Blackburn and Dovie Richardson Blackburn.
Ruth was a devout Christian and an accomplished pianist, who played by ear. She shared her God given talent for over seventy-five years.
Priddy Manor Assisted Living in King, NC was her residence for the last four years. There she joyfully shared her faith and music three times a week. She especially enjoyed the activities and outings offered, and the new friendships made. Ruth was given the title “Ambassador of Priddy Manor.” Her job was to greet new residents and answer any questions. She took great pride in this responsibly.
Her hobbies included reading, especially her Bible and Bible Study Guides, self-help books, collecting dolls, and helping others. Her life’s passion was sharing her talent of music at rest homes, churches, weddings, and funerals, always praising God. She felt blessed that she was able to travel to the Holy Land with her husband and mother during her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry H. Reid, Sr.; son, Larry Pinnix; siblings, Francis Blackburn, Mabel Tilley, Lucille Flynt, and Nina Martin; stepdaughters, Alice Pack, Patricia Priddy, and Betty Dull; and step-granddaughter, Teresa King.
Ruth is survived by step-children, Virginia Hill, and Perry H. Reid, Jr. (Renee); daughter-in-law, Rhonda Pinnix; step-grandchildren, Debbie West, Tracey Stachnick (Billy), John McGee, Kristy Dull, and T.J. Smoot (Megan); step great-granddaughters, Nicole King, Cheyenne West and Amberly Rush; step great-grandson, Jesse West (Bailee); special nephew, Barry Crews (Lynn); and special niece, Teresa Barnes (Terry).
A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Officiating the service is Pastor Jim Miller and Pastor Dwight Ball. A private urn burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery in Winston-Salem, NC.
The family would especially like to thank Priddy Manor Assisted Living for their love and care of Ruth. A special thank you, especially to Katie Joyce for her kindness and devotion during her time.
