Ruth Elizabeth Stephenson, 87, passed away January 14, 2024, at StoryPoint in Birmingham, Michigan. She was born on March 25, 1937, in Saginaw Michigan, and was the daughter of Howard and Marie Arbury,
She graduated from Midland High School, attended school at Stephens College from 1955-1957 and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in history from the University of Michigan in 1960.
After graduating, Ruth worked for the Dean of Students at the University of Michigan and later became a teacher for the Dearborn Public Schools.
Ruth married Norman Stephenson on April 13, 1963. The couple moved to Midland in 1965 where they raised their children, Lori, Mark and Scott. Ruth was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, Monday Club, Sylvan Lane Lunch Bunch, and Dow High Booster Club. She loved her family and her dogs and enjoyed spending time with them more than anything else. Ruth was a huge sports fan attending all her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. She also loved to read, downhill ski, play tennis, and swim.
Ruth and Norm were married for 50 years and spent much of their time at their Elk Lake home, making many wonderful memories with their children and grandchildren.
Grandma Ruth was loved by all. We will miss her dearly.
She is predeceased by her husband, Norman; brother, William Arbury; and is the loving mother of daughter Lori (Rod) Trautman of Williamsburg, MI; sons Mark (Shelly) Stephenson of Troy, MI; and Scott (Mary Pat) Stephenson of Northville, MI.
