Ruth Schussler Stone, 98 of Montgomery Village, MD, formerly of Charlottesville, VA and who resided on Long Island, NY for over 80 years went to be with her Lord on September 30, 2025.

She was the daughter of Walter Schussler and Sophie Hammen (both deceased) born on April 18, 1927.

She was the loving wife of Winston C Stone for over 30 years till his death in 1982. She leaves three children, Elise, Winston (Deborah Baron) and Madelon, six grandsons Matthew Langman, Logan Capaldo, Jonathan Capaldo, Brian Capaldo, Zachary Stone, and Daniel Capaldo and four great-grandchildren, Caden, Sloane, Fitzgerald, and Penelope.

In her 60's, she met her companion Paul Tucci with whom she spent enjoyable times for over 20 years till his death. His family lovingly welcomed her as part of their family.

She retired from teaching kindergarten in the Sachem School District, Long Island in 1989 and pursued her love for traveling. At 87, she booked a cruise in Alaska to see the whales. She enjoyed reading, knitting and playing word games, especially Scrabble.

Everywhere she went, she made friends. She volunteered her time and donated to many charities during her life.

She will be missed.

There will be a graveside service at Calverton National Cemetery on Long Island on October 16, 2025 at 12:30 where she will be buried with her husband.
