Ruth A. Walton, 96, went to be with her family in Heaven on July 31, 2024. She was born June 28, 1928 in Buna, daughter of Amos and Sallie Williams.
She graduated from Deweyville in 1945. She moved to Beaumont a short time after to work at the Telephone company where she met the love of her life, William David Walton, Jr. They married and had 2 children, Billy Wayne Walton, Sr. and Cynthia Louise Walton.
Her interests included her family, quilting, gardening and cooking. She was well known for her cooking, especially her Tea Cakes. She was a long time member of Blanchard Baptist Church where she was involved with WMU.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 10 siblings, husband William David Walton, Jr., daughter Cynthia Louise Walton Smith, son Billy Wayne Walton, Sr and a great, great, great grandson Lux Godkin. Survivors include Son in law Bobby L. Smith, Daughter in law Doris J. Walton, 4 grandchildren (Elaine, Angel, Bubba, & Janie), 13 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-great grandchild and lots of family and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Buna with burial at Sudduth Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm prior to service.
