Ruth E. (McLagan) Wierzbicki passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Ruth was the widow of the late Edward R. Wierzbicki. She was born in Manchester, CT to parents Harold R. McLagan and Vernie (Tarnowski) McLagan.
Although she and Eddie moved their family to Bristol in 1957, Ruth always considered herself to be a Manchester girl and happily attended her Manchester High School class reunions.
Ruth always said that the happiest times of her life were when she was a young wife and mother. She volunteered tirelessly at C. A. Bingham School and McCabe Waters Little League when her children were young. When her children were older, Ruth returned to a career in banking and was very proud of her service to Northside Bank and Trust Company and Bristol Savings Bank. She considered her co-workers to be her family. After she retired, she enjoyed many years with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and dogs Buddy and Mikey.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Dale Julian (Michael), Mary Budnick (Richard), and Susan Guiney (Patrick), a daughter in law Jan Wierzbicki and a former son in law Joseph Bernardi. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Hope Bellantuono (Michael), Joseph Bernardi (Joanna Gould), Jessica Bernardi, Richard Budnick, and Joanie Wierzbicki, as well as three great grandchildren who were the lights of her life, Jack Bellantuono, Ava Bellantuono, and Bria Ruth Rivera. Ruth also leaves several special cousins and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was predeceased by her son Edward Peter Wierzbicki, her infant brother Donald J. McLagan and a special aunt Leona (Tarnowski) Joyce.
Ruths family would like to thank the staff at Ingraham Manor and Bristol Home Care and Hospice Agency for the kindness and care they gave to Ruth in the final stage of her life.
There will be no calling hours. A private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
