Ruth T. Wright, 83, of Mount Vernon, OH, passed into the presence of Christ surrounded by her family just short of her 21st “real” birthday on Friday, January 26, 2024, at her home in Mount Vernon.
Ruth was born on Leap Day, February 29th, 1940, in Dallas, OR, to William Sylvester and Claire Annis {Gilliam} Tilgner.
In her early life, she studied at Simpson Bible College in San Francisco. Upon returning to Oregon, she met and then married Rip Wright on February 12th, 1967. For the entirety of her life, she dedicated herself to the Church and her family as a faithful pastor’s wife and mother. She was deeply passionate about global mission work, visiting the Twin Wells Indian School in AZ twice, participating in a mission trip to New York, and spending two weeks at Africa Nazarene University in her retirement. She enjoyed writing, reading, puzzles, and animals of all sorts. As many know, her stories continue to inspire others as much as her passion for Newfoundland dogs. After a career dedicated to ministry, her retirement was spent helping Rip at the Warsaw Church of the Nazarene for the last 10 months and continuing to write stories of her early life caring for the elderly and building her ministry.
Ruth will be dearly missed by her husband; children Ron (Suzanne) Wright, Rachel Wright, and Krystal West; grandchildren Victoria Soltys, Bradley Soltys, Emma (Mel) Wright, Elijah Soltys, and Zane (Gemma Weir) Wright; six great-grandchildren; and brother Delmond.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Marlin, Melvern, Tharrell, and Lamar.
Friends may call Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Mount Vernon Chapel. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Barton officiating. The burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Memorial contributions can be made to Africa Nazarene University, in Kenya, through a local Nazarene church.
