Doenges, Ryan W., 88 of Franklin Lakes suddenly passed peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. Beloved and devoted husband of Ann (Nancy, nee Foran) for 56 years. He is also survived by his sister Mary McCarney Filancia and her children Maureen, Patrick and Eileen. His sister-in-law Maureen Foran and brother-in-law Dennis Foran. He was predeceased by his parents Winifred Ryan and William, his brothers-in-law James and Desmond Foran and Patrick McCarney.
Ryan taught for the NYC Department of Education as a junior and senior high school teacher for over 30 years. A dedicated parishioner at St. Elizabeth's Church in Wyckoff, he served as an usher at the 5pm Saturday evening Mass.
A member of the Knights of Columbus for 60 years, he was named NJ Knight of the Month. Ryan was the Financial Secretary for Council 747 for 20 years. For the last four years he was a member of St. Elizabeth's Knights of Columbus. Ryan was an active member of the N.Y.A.C. for 47 years, serving as Grand Knight Emeritus and Treasurer of the Knights of the Bath.
More recently he became a member of Activities Unlimited in Wyckoff. He belonged to the Franklin Lakes Seniors, serving as treasurer of the club.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 8th from 1-4pm and Monday December 9th, 9am-10am at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 9th, 10:30am at St. Elizabeth's Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff NJ.
Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532.
