Ryan was a dedicated and talented chef whose culinary journey began when he received a full scholarship to Johnson and Wales University in Charleston, South Carolina, where he earned a degree in culinary arts. His career in the culinary world was marked by passion and achievement. He began his professional journey as a line cook at the Greensboro City Club before advancing to the position of sous chef at Restaurant Pastiche. Ryan's exceptional skills led him to serve as Executive Chef at several prestigious establishments, including Sedgefield Country Club, Cimmaron Hills Country Club, and Champion Hills in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He was the esteemed Executive Chef at Grandover Resort & Spa, where he left an indelible mark with his creativity and dedication.
Beyond his professional life, Ryan had a zest for life that was evident in his varied interests. He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and held a particular fondness for Renaissance fairs, enjoying the vibrant community and history they celebrated. Ryan found joy in cooking not only as a profession but as a beloved hobby. He also enjoyed gaming and cherished movies, especially those produced by Mel Brooks, with "The Producers" being a particular favorite.
Ryan was a man who excelled in his craft, having won several cooking competitions and published numerous recipes. His legacy extends beyond his professional achievements to the deep love he shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sondra Spesock, and his five cherished children, Sean, Sonje, Caden, Kael, and Zayn. Ryan also leaves behind his loving parents, Beverla and Paul Spesock, and his siblings, Shane and Sherry Spesock, Shannon and Jeff Icenhour, Michael Spesock, and Monica Walters, as well as many nieces and nephews who will forever hold his memory dear.
