S.L. “George” Klady, 83, of Greeley died on March 10, 2010 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born December 13, 1926 on the family farm in Alden, Kansas to George Smith and Eva Elizabeth (Read) Klady. George married Shirley A. Stewart on September 1, 1950 in Sterling, Kansas. They have lived in Greeley since 1957. He graduated from high school in Alden, Kansas and attended Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas. In his early years, George was a farmer in Alden, Kansas. He was a truck driver in Colorado and retired from LaFarge as a cement truck driver in 1991. George was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greeley, the Sunrise Sams Camping Club, Weld County Fish and Wildlife where he was a life member and former president. His hobbies included traveling, hunting, gardening, camping, playing cards and games. George and Shirley were fortunate to travel to all 50 states. Survivors include his wife Shirley of Greeley, sons Stewart, Steven and Scott Klady all of Greeley, Stanley (Kim) Klady of Ault, son-in-law Stephen Cowles of Cameron Park, CA, grandchildren Russell Klady, Spencer Cowles, Courteney, Hannah and Ean Klady. A sister Marguerite Martin resides in Hutchinson, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sue Lynn Cowles, an infant son Carl and a sister Imogene Colbert. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. A reception will follow in the Allnutt Reception Center. Memorial gifts may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or charity of choice in George’s name in care of Allnutt, 702 13th St., Greeley, CO 80631.
