Sacha Dawn Curry

Sacha Curry, 49, passed away on August 11, 2023, at her home in Wichita, KS after a long battle with cancer. She was an absolute warrior and battled it with everything she had and fought it up to the very end.
Rosary will be 6:00 pm, Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Friday, August 18, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. A memorial has been established with: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 22324, New York, NY 10087.
She was a wonderful and devoted wife and mother. Married to her husband, Sterling Curry, for 26 years last June. She had 3 kids including 2 girls, Isabella and Olivia, who are still in high school at Bishop Carroll and a son, Sterling II, who graduated high school last year and is currently in the Navy at Camp Pendelton California. She was immensely proud of her kids, who were her greatest love, and indicated her regret and worry was not going to be able to see both of her daughters graduate. Until the end she was worried more about those she loved than her own wellbeing.
Sacha was fierce and lived life to the fullest: CrossFit, camping, hiking, traveling, and scuba diving were the passions that she enjoyed. She loved camping and hiking in the mountains and especially loved the beach. And she loved music and would kick off every morning with a jolt of Kenny Chesney or Old Dominion at around 5:00 am getting ready to go to her morning CrossFit workout. She would have wanted everyone that knew her to remember her for the amazingly strong, vivacious, and outgoing person that she was.
Sacha was a teacher and educator. After graduating from K-State in 1997 she taught in Valley Center for her first job as a long-term sub, then moved into teaching positions at Wichita USD 259 and taught at Stanley Elementary for the last 13 years. She has been approached by many of her former students talking about what a great influence she had on them - even students from decades ago.
She has left an amazing legacy - From the students she taught, the people who enjoyed her company, to her own kids she has raised. She has made the world a better place by her being in it.
She will be loved, she will be missed.Forever and Ever. Amen.
