Jane (Sadie) Hamad
Akron - Jane Hamad, 101, of Akron passed away on January 7, 2025 surrounded by her family. She served God, her church, her family and taught us by her good example. She was a devout member of Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church and Ladies Guild. She spent many years working bingo at the church, and cooking for festivals and card parties. Her church family was an integral part of her life.
Jane and her husband Harry owned Hamad's Bar and Café on South Main Street for 35 years. She was an excellent cook and worked hard in the kitchen.
In her leisure time Jane enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and cards. She was a great athlete and stayed in shape by walking two miles daily, rain or shine, well into her 90's.
Her favorite times were spent with her grandkids, great grandkids, and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harry. Jane is survived by her sister Adele Hamad, daughters Rosemary Endress (Jim), Janice Meyer (Rob), and her son Dennis Hamad (Louann). She was Sito to grandchildren Matthew Endress (Laura), Jeffrey Endress (Stephanie), Amanda Hamad, Holly Klenk (Patrick) and Robbie Meyer (Samantha).
She was also blessed with seven great grandchildren, Casey and Paxton Endress, Madison, Joshua, Ethan, and Charlie Endress, Kenzi Meyer, and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive visitors on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 4-8 pm at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, Copley Ohio 44321. Prayer service at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Wednesday, January 15 at Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church, 507 S. Cleveland-Massillon Road in Fairlawn. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Our family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by Heritage Crossing Assisted Living and Traditions Health and Hospice. Special thanks to Dr. Rasheed Nemer for many years of wonderful care.
