Sadie Betty Genobles McLeod, 95, of Newberry, widow of Frank Edward “Ed” McLeod, Sr., passed away on Saturday May 3, 2025, at the Presbyterian Community in Clinton, SC.
Born on March 11, 1930, in Greer, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Valley Lindsay Genobles. Mrs. McLeod was a graduate of Lander College and was an educator in the Newberry County School System having retired from Newberry High School. She was a member of Bush River Baptist Church where she was involved with the Joyful Hearts. She was member of the Newberry Garden Club.
Mrs. McLeod was a member of the S.C. Walking Horse Association, the N.C. Walking Horse Association and a member of the S.C. Walking Horse Ladies Auxillary.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly McLeod of Newberry; a son, Eddie McLeod (Darlene) of Newberry; grandchildren, Elizabeth McLeod of Overland, KS and Bobby McLeod of Columbia; a brother, Rufus Genobles (Carolyn) of Woodruff.
She was predeceased by sisters, Ruby Coggins, Margie Coggins and Frances Genobles and a brother, James Genobles.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Bush River Baptist Church by the Rev. Jeff Payne. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bush River Baptist Church, 8936 Bush River Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Kevin Dunlap, Bobby Shuler, David Davidson, Bobby McLeod, Eugene "Bo" Wilson, Jr. and Jason Bishop.
Honorary pallbearers will be member of the Joyful Hearts of Bush River Baptist Church.
