Sally Ann Kerr Alexander, born on November 21, 1944, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Nagel Kerr and Hester Reighley Kerr.
Sally grew up in Hubbard, Ohio on “Kermont Farm,” the family fruit farm, and spent her high school years in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She attended Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, where she met her husband, George. Sally and George celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 10 this year. They made their home in Clemson for over 55 years.
Sally spent much of her career as a devoted homemaker, providing loving and unwavering support for her family. In addition to her role at home, she worked as the Guidance Office assistant at D.W. Daniel High School. She also served as the assistant coach for the school's Track and Field and Cross-Country teams. Sally always enjoyed being active and would often engage in very physically challenging activities. She rode her bike across South Carolina, hiked the Grand Canyon, participated in tennis tournaments, took fitness classes, ran a marathon at the age of 75, and competed in a powerlifting competition at the age of 78.
Sally’s passions were taking care of her family, getting to know people, doing yardwork, walking, and reading. Her love for books led her to volunteer at the Clemson Elementary School and R.C. Edwards Middle School libraries for many years.
Sally brightened everyone’s day with her beautiful smile and vibrant personality. She loved her community, made genuine connections, and enthusiastically supported her family and friends in their endeavors.
Sally is survived by her husband, George Alexander; sons George "David" Alexander (Matt) of Iowa City, Iowa, and Joseph "Trent" Alexander (Jennifer) of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and her daughter Ann Marie Alexander of Clemson, South Carolina; her grandchildren: Michael David Alexander-Alonso, Joseph "Joe" Burton Alexander, William "Billy" Trent Alexander, and Lynn Alexander McGill. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Kerr of Warren, Ohio, as well as her loving sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her brother, Samuel "Dennis" Kerr. Please join us in celebrating Sally’s life and honoring her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity.
