Funeral services for Mrs. Sally Anette Laird will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Kinder, with Reverend Jimmy Dale White officiating. Interment will follow in Green Oak Cemetery, Kinder, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Laird, 81, of Kinder, entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Sally was a loving mother and grandmother. She had an excellent sense of humor. In her younger years, she was a talented artist who used oil paints. She was a mother figure to many children in the community and led with a strong hand. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by one son, Arthur "Kirk" Terry; her parents, Walter and Ruby Cottongin; three brothers, Michael Cottongin, Cecil Cottingin, and Kenneth Cottongin; two sisters, Nelda Cottongin and Virginia Cottongin; and special aunt and uncle, Sidney and Elaine Cottongin.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include two daughters, Sydney Miller (Brandon) of Kinder, and Mika Liptak (John) of Lake Charles; one brother, Charlie Cottongin of Kinder; one sister, Mary Young (Lonnie) of LeBlanc; seven grandchildren, Kirk, Jr., Breanna, Ashlynn, Tristen, Autumn, Aislinn, and Gabby; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Kinder, on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
