Memorial services for Mrs. Bonnie Phillips Bennett will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Kinder, with Reverend Alfred Gibson officiating, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Bonnie Phillips Bennett walked into Heaven where she was greeted by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 3:59 a.m.
She was an educator for over thirty years in the Allen Parish School System. Upon retirement in 2007, she worked as a private counselor in the parishes of Allen, Calcasieu, and Jeff Davis. God gave her a wonderful talent for counseling, and she was a blessing to and received a blessing from those she worked with.
Bonnie was preceded in death by one son, David Wayne Bennett; and her parents, Elroy and Helen Phillips.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Donald Bennett; one son, Patrick Shawn Bennett; one daughter, Maggie Bellow (Clement); four grandchildren, Hailey Bennett, C.J. Bellow, Krystyna Bellow, and Kennedy Bellow; one sister, Lory Phillips; one sister-in-law, Judy Lindsay; and one brother-in-law, Larry Bennett (Phyllis).
A time of visitation will be held in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Kinder, on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Samaritan's Purse.
The family would like to extend a warm thank you to her caregiver, Jeanne Slate, Lake Charles Memorial ICU Department, and Allen Parish Home Health for their exceptional care.
There is no higher mission in life than Nursing. The trained nurse is one of humanity, taking her place beside the physician and the minister, and not inferior to either in her mission.
