Charlie Walter Cottongin

Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Walter Cottongin will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, Kinder, with Reverend Jimmy White officiating. Interment will follow in Green Oak Cemetery, Kinder, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mr. Cottongin, 90, of Kinder, entered eternal rest on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Kinder Retirement and Rehabilitation Center, Kinder, LA.
He was a loving father and grandfather. He cherished his family and enjoyed visiting with friends and loved ones. He found comfort in reading his Bible and spending time hunting and fishing. He loved going to church and took great delight in playfully intimidating his daughters' dates. A true jokester, he was always laughing and was loved by everyone. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by one son, Craig Cottongin; one daughter, Daphne Cottongin-Arabie; his parents, Walter and Ruby Cottongin; three brothers, Kenneth Cottongin, Cecil Cottongin, and Mike Cottongin; and three sisters, Nelda Cottongin, Sally Laird, and Virginia Cottongin.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include one son, Corey Cottongin (Sheena) of Kinder; two daughters, Angela Courville (Allen) of Kinder, and Rachel Fontenot (Henry Jr.) of Kinder; mother of his children, Marvinia Cottongin of Kinder; one sister, Mary Young (Lonnie) of Leblanc; eleven grandsons, Dustin Courville, Anthony Arabie, Khale Holden, Tanner Cottongin, Treavor Fontenot, Tyler Fontenot, Bailey Bertrand, Slayden Sauble, Kayden Cottongin, Bryce Cottongin, and Brennan Cottongin; one granddaughter, Kyrstin Cottongin; and ten great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Kinder, on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, Kinder, on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Treavor Fontenot, Tyler Fontenot, Bailey Bertrand, Slayden Sauble, Brennan Cottongin, Corey Cottongin, Bryce Cottongin, and Kayden Cottongin. Honorary pallbearer will be Dominique Morrison.
