Funeral services for Mr. Billy Clifton Aponas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Hineston, with Reverend Eugene Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Hineston, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mr. Aponas, 77, of Hineston, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home, Pine Prairie, LA.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening and was an enthusiastic fan of the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers, faithfully cheering on his teams throughout the years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Aponas; his parents, John and Edna Aponas; and one sister, Julia Calhoun.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include one son, Jon Paul Aponas (Stormy) of Dayton, Nevada; two daughters, Kimberly Aponas of Glenmora, and Valerie Brown (Steven) of Hineston; three sisters, Gwen Johnson of Cravens, Kathleen Aponas of Hineston, and Mary Myers of Oakdale; four granddaughters, Tracy Aponas, Kimberly Arceneaux, Tiffany Wells, and Destiny Brown; and three great grandchildren, Levi Humphries, Lucy Foster, and Sophia Withers.
A time of visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Hineston, on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Randy Johnson, Scott Johnson, Todd Welch, Brian Lovejoy, Andrew Withers, and Jared Arceneaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Levi Humphies, Steven Brown, and Justin Johnson.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Heart of Hospice and Prairie Manor Nursing Home for the exceptional care provided to Mr. Aponas.
